License
Everything here is free. Each photo and video carries one of three licenses, chosen by the person who contributed it. The license is shown next to the download button.
Free with credit
Use it anywhere: articles, books, social media, films, posters, products. Credit the photographer and Shia Archive next to the work or in the credits. Do not sell the file itself, and do not use it to mock or misrepresent the people or places shown.
Editorial only
For reporting, teaching, research, documentaries and religious programmes. Not for advertising, merchandise or anything that implies the people shown endorse it. Credit the photographer and Shia Archive.
On request
The family, the photographer or the source has asked that this be used only with permission. Write to us with what you want to use it for and we will pass the request on.
The credit line
Every page gives a credit line to copy, for example Photo: Ali Raza / Shia Archive. Put it beside the photo, in the caption, or in a film’s credits.
Respect
These are pictures of people at prayer, in mourning and at the graves of their families. Do not crop, caption or edit them to mock, to misattribute or to put words in anyone’s mouth. A license is withdrawn from anyone who does.
